Maze Camp

We were invited by WallStreet to Fribourg (CH), where we organized a one-week residency featuring a workshop and several visits to sites of interest in and around the city. The starting point for the project was the book Parallel Minds by Laura Tripaldi (MIT Press, February 2022), which explores the notion of “other” forms of intelligence by examining the materials that make up our natural and technological environments.

The workshop, conceived and led by Laura Tripaldi and Stella Succi, brought together members of WallStreet, Favilla, and artists Azadbek Bekchanov, Elin Gonzalez, and Matheline Marmy, who collectively experimented with both organic and inorganic materials. The outcomes of these explorations remained on site and took the form of an informal exhibition.
Over the course of the week, we also visited several places of interest, including the Swiss Museum of Sewing Machines and Unusual Objects, where we had a guided tour, and the Magdalena Einsiedelei — a site founded by hermits in the 1400s, now bearing layers of both ancient and contemporary engravings on its walls.

At the end of the residency, WallStreet hosted a roundtable discussion with author Laura Tripaldi on Parallel Minds, along with a presentation of the artistic processes and outcomes developed during the workshop, in the presence of the participating artists.
